Dr Melinda Tan was involved in setting up the Thai English Language Corpus (TELC) and conducting research work for presentation at international conferences. Further details regarding TELC can be found in Tan, M. (2002). Research findings from some of the cultural studies that have been conducted using TELC can be found in Tan, M. (2005). Her other research interests are in intercultural issues, the applications of corpus research in language education, critical discourse analysis, and the pedagogical implications relating to English as a world language.
